Towing a trailer can be part of your daily role at work or a leisure activity such as Caravanning, Equestrian pursuits or Motorsports. Either way, its something that will matter to you and undergoing additional training will help in developing your skill level which in turn will help protect that precious load.
Due to a restructuring of our trailer training service I will only be able to provide training using the clients own vehicle and trailer or caravan.
Trailer training update
With the removal in November 2021 of the requirement for drivers who wish to tow a trailer using a car or light vehicle to sit a (DVSA) B+E test, I now offer our well established Introduction to towing course.
Introduction to Towing Course
Our introduction to Towing Course has been created to help drivers new to towing learn how to tow safely. It has been designed for both novice and refresher drivers in mind. This course should help you tow a trailer or caravan safely and with more confidence.
Topics covered are
- Reversing to the left and right and how to turn a car and trailer around.
- Safety checks, what to look out for and who remedy any problems you find.
- How to prepare your trailer for the journey.
- Loading safely and how to secure the load.
- Coupling and uncoupling and how to ensure your trailer won’t unhitch.
- On road assessment looking at the risk when towing a trailer and what a driver should consider while towing on the road.
The course fee is £50 per hour and lasts around 6 hours, this includes the use of a vehicle and trailer for training or refreshers purposes, all exercises are conducted at our own private training area and on local roads.
I am fully qualified grade A DVSA approved driving instructor with 15 yrs experience and hold both the RoSPA (Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents) Gold accreditation and I am also as I.A.M member (Institute of Advanced Motorists), as such I will introduce advanced driving techniques to improve my clients overall driving ability. That said, I do work in a very relaxed manner so both I and my clients enjoy the course.
